The Aim with the Acquisition is to Expand
Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure and Domain Name System (DNS) Capabilities. The Aim
with the Acquisition is to Expand Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure and Domain Name.
Oracle announced on Thursday that it is acquiring the cybersecurity firm Zenedge. The finanacial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Oracle said Zenedge helps companies protect applications and databases from malicious web traffic through its web application firewall (WAF) and distributed denial of service (DDoS) mitigation products. Zenedge says its products can lead to a 99 percent reduction in dangerous website traffic and a 99.75 percent improvement in page load times.
The objective of the acquisition is to expand Oracle's cloud
infrastructure and Domain Name System (DNS) experiences.
"Clienteles are demanding an enterprise-level
infrastructure to run their critical business systems in the cloud," said
Don Johnson, senior vice president of product development for Oracle. "The
mixture with Zenedge will provide Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with network safety
and integrated next-generation infrastructure to meet today's safety pressures."
Zenedge now also offers DDoS protection services for AWS deployments. Oracle did not mention how it handles the current integration of Zenedge partners, but noted that Zenedge will continue to serve its customers as they are until the acquisition is completed. After that, it is unlikely that the AWS offer will last.
